BAE Projectile Launcher winners announced

We were pleased to welcome STEM ambassadors from BAE Systems Alisdair and Ryan to announce the winners of the BAE Projectile Launcher challenge.

Students were divided up into seven teams to build a projectile launcher that was accurate enough to hit a target. They were lucky enough to be able to show their designs to ESA astronaut Tim Peake when he visited the college in December.

The project has been completed as part of the training element of students' timetable, where they gain skills and experience to help them leave UTC Portsmouth with more than just great qualifications.

The winning team consisted of; Ollie Germain , Luca Tuckey , Elliot Gilkes-Strong , Tom MacKinnon and Austin Slade Jeffery.

Congratulations to the winning team and huge thanks to BAE Systems for both setting the project and supporting our students throughout.
