UTC Portsmouth Sixth Form is a specialist STEM college for Years 12 and 13, focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths.

Applications to join UTC Portsmouth in Year 12 (Sixth Form) should be made directly to the college.
You can find the application form online via Applicaa.
Applications close on 12 January 2026. -
Once we receive your application, you’ll be invited to attend a short virtual meeting (or face-to-face for current students) to discuss your interests and predicted GCSE results.
After your meeting, you’ll receive a conditional offer, which will be confirmed once applications close on 12 January 2026. -
What subjects and pathways are available?
We offer three distinct pathways through Sixth Form:
A Level Route – Choose from a wide range of STEM-focused subjects including Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, Psychology, Geography, English and Product Design.
Combined Route – Study 2–3 A Levels alongside the Extended Certificate in Engineering (equivalent to one A Level).
T Level Route – Choose between Engineering and Digital. Each is equivalent to 3 A Levels and includes a 45–50 day industry placement with an employer.

Students learn in modern, purpose-built spaces, including:
Engineering workshops, design labs, and CAD/CAM & 3D printing suites
Fully cloud-based systems (each student works from a Chromebook or laptop)
Dedicated Sixth Form study and social areas
Access to the University of Portsmouth’s library

The Sixth Form day runs from 8:30am – 4:40pm, reflecting professional working hours.
Students also have Independent Study periods to complete coursework during the college day, should they choose to, as well as timetabled Training and Enrichment sessions.
Depending on subject choices, some students may have slightly later starts or earlier finishes. -
We are proud to work with a range of industry-leading Employer Partners, including the Royal Navy, BAE Systems, QinetiQ, Eaton, Lockheed Martin, and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust.
These partnerships give students access to real-world projects, site visits, mentoring opportunities, and work experience that enhance employability and career readiness. -
Our students progress to top universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, Bath, and Southampton, or secure higher and degree apprenticeships with major employers including Airbus, Rolls-Royce, Dyson, GSK, and the Royal Navy.
100% of our Sixth Form leavers move on to STEM-related degrees or apprenticeships. -
