Our Commitment

UTC Portsmouth is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students. We work in line with national statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education and Working Together to Safeguard Children, as well as Portsmouth Safeguarding Children Partnership procedures.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. All staff receive regular training and are confident in how to report and respond to concerns.

We maintain a strong safeguarding culture built on:

  • Secure record keeping

  • Regular safeguarding training and refreshers for all staff

  • Professional challenge

  • A clear early help offer and partnership with local agencies

  • Student education on how to stay safe


Reporting Concerns

If you are concerned that a student is at risk of harm, you can:

  1. Contact our DSL or DDSL

  2. Email safeguarding@utcportsmouth.org

  3. Contact the appropriate Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) or children’s services team for your local authority (see contact information below)

  4. In an emergency, always call 999
