We understand that parents are fully committed to their child’s education.
UTC Portsmouth is different from other schools and colleges, and as parents, we bet you are wondering how and why. It will have employers, guided by the University of Portsmouth, at the core of curriculum design and support, whether in providing support to staff or through delivery of vocational elements and projects (e.g. workshops in HMS Sultan or advanced manufacturing projects in Airbus and BAE Systems).
The working day for UTC Portsmouth will be longer: Mon, Tue and Thu: 0830-1640 and Wed and Fri: 0830-1450. This longer day will enable students to complete ‘homework’ during college hours and participate in the exciting range of enrichment packages. Through our offer from AutoDesk, we will also be the only school in Hampshire to offer AutoCAD qualifications from age 14 onward.
Class sizes will be 20-25.
To ensure a seamless transition to our UTC, all students will participate in ‘Transition Day’ events. These will explain both the ethos and delivery of education in the UTC, providing new students with an opportunity to meet their peers, teachers and employers prior to the start of term.
The catchment area for UTC Portsmouth is below, places will be split between Zone A (Portsmouth) and Zone B (Remainder of Purple area) in accordance with our admissions policy.
