We will be responding to applications as soon as they come in, so please submit your application as soon as possible.
Closing date: 4 November 2019
The Board of Trustees at UTC Portsmouth have a vacancy for a Parent Trustee (Governor).
UTC Portsmouth aims to create a partnership with parents and guardians with the aim of bringing genuine benefits to the college and its students. One of the most significant ways you can help in promoting this aim is to volunteer to be a Parent Trustee.
The Board of Trustees’ main tasks are:
to ensure that the school has a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction;
to hold the Principal to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;
to oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure public money is well spent.
The Board of Trustees currently consists of a number of individuals with strong engineering skills. The college has identified the skills, experience and attributes that they feel would help strengthen the Board and would be particularly keen to receive applications from any parent/guardian with experience in non-engineering subjects, including Human Resources and Finance. The Board is also very keen to improve diversity and better reflect the community it serves.
The full Board of Trustees meet approximately 6 times per academic year and each committee meet approximately 3 times a year. The meetings are held within the school day, usually on Thursday mornings.
Parent Trustee vacancies are required to be filled by election if there are more applications than vacancies. All parents and guardians are entitled to stand as a candidate and vote in the election. The details of this vacancy can also be located on the college website.
Please note that for the protection of students, all trustee appointments are subject to enhanced checks through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
If you are interested, and would like to make a difference, please contact the Clerk to the Trustees, Kim Lea, firstname.lastname@example.org, who will forward you an application form. The closing date for applications will be 12.00pm 7th November 2019.
As a growing college, vacancies can frequently arise. We therefore welcome strong applications from prospective candidates at any time.
