UTC Portsmouth students are celebrating A level and technical results today as they prepare to progress to leading universities and highly competitive degree apprenticeships, and higher apprenticeships with major STEM employers.
Students have secured impressive destinations across a range of industries and locations. Many are progressing to leading universities, including Warwick, Southampton, Bristol, UCL, Cardiff and the University of Portsmouth, while others have secured highly competitive apprenticeships and degree apprenticeships with organisations including Airbus, QinetiQ, Raymarine, Arm and Dstl.
Among those progressing to university is Lydia, who achieved A* grades in Maths, Further Maths and Computer Science, alongside an A in Physics. She will continue her studies at the University of Southampton, where she will study Mathematics.
This year’s results once again highlight the strength of UTC Portsmouth’s technical pathways. Technical qualifications delivered another particularly strong set of results with 100% of T Level students achieving a Pass or higher, demonstrating the value of combining academic study with employer-led projects, industry experience and specialist STEM teaching. Our first cohort of Digital T Level students achieved impressive outcomes, with 85% securing a Merit or higher. Among them is Cham, who achieved a Merit in his Digital T Level and is progressing to the University of Plymouth to study Software Engineering.
Engineering continued its success at UTC Portsmouth with 95% of students achieving a Merit or higher in the Extended Certificate of Engineering, and 72.5% achieving a Distinction or higher. Jai-Ming was among those celebrating after achieving a Distinction star in his Engineering Certificate and is now heading to Harwin to undertake a Level 4 Engineering apprenticeship.
These results and destinations, reflect the college’s continued focus on ensuring students leave with the qualifications, skills and experience needed for their next steps.
